Benefits from Playing Magformers
Magformers are magnetic constructions designed for enjoyment, pleasure, and enhancement for the brain, physical, emotional and social development of people of all ages. The benefits of Magformers can be classified in 8 ways which are:
- Sensory Development - Children are able to develop through touching and assembling different shapes. It helps them to concentrate on various activities.
- Curiosity The arousing curiosity in learning of constructing structures independently helps to obtain the mathematical foundation and enhances the creative and assertive development.
- Scientific Thinking - Developing scientific thinking skills helps children to have a good cognitive and rational thinking process through creating a variety of structures.
- Mathematical Thinking - Improving the development of mathematical thinking helps children to be good at quantitative thinking such as counting, calculating, and measuring.
- Imagination - Creating limitless imagination and having a dream job or ideal career are able to occur due to the connection and assembly of building the Magformers structure.
- Creativity - Having independent creativity helps children to assemble a variety of pieces to create structures that come from their own imagination.
- Modeling – Building modeling skill helps children to create a geometrical form from 2D to 3D as provided, or to be able to design by themselves.
- Reasoning – Improving the development of reasoning helps with a good sequence and thought process. Children will be able to distinguish between 2D and 3D shapes.
How to play Magformers in easy ways
Children can play Magformers with a variety of molding techniques based on 6 geometry principles which are:
-
Rolling
Place the magnet horizontally then form a shape by rolling the magnet up one by one until it turns to be the perfect shape. It is suitable for forming cubic and pyramid shapes such as cube, sandglass, and apple.
-
Pull up
Place the magnet horizontally then form a shape by pulling up at once. This will give the perfect shape which is suitable for forming high circle shapes such as Ball, Tower, and Rocket.
-
Folding
Place the magnet horizontally then form a shape by folding up each side and bringing them together until they become a perfect shape. This is suitable for forming circle, pyramid, and cubic shapes such as pyramid, and diamond.
-
Wall
Bring each piece of magnet together one by one and then it will turn to be the shape. This is a simple and easy way which is suitable for the beginner. It can be molded in any shapes.
-
Combine
Combine shapes to create the shape you want, for example, bringing the head and body part together and you will get a dog shape.
-
Transform
Combine two different shapes together and change it into a new shape, for example, combining a triangular shape with a square to get a square base pyramid.
Mathematics skills children can learn from playing
Important math skills through playing Magformers that will help children develop better are consisted of 6 skills which are:
-
Shape - Practice the skill of distinguishing and comparing shapes between 2D and 3D
-
Classification - Practice categorization, classification, and grouping characteristics skills, for example:
-
Pattern - Practice sorting skills into patterns such as ABAB patterns, for example:
-
Number - Practice counting skills such as counting 1-10, or counting how many shapes there are correctly and connect to symbolic understanding.
-
Measurement - Practice skills in measuring, comparing weight, understanding the difference of the smaller, bigger, heavier, and lighter pieces.
-
Space - Indicate the location and distance and practice to position and give directions such as right, left, in front of, back, opposite

Let’s get to know the great magnetic of Magformers
Currently, Magformers are the strongest, smallest, and most powerful magnetic products which have magnetic force in all directions that means neither side of them pushes against the others. This is called Neodymium Magnet. Now, it is the time to know more about Magnet.
- There are always 2 poles of magnets: North and South. If we hang a magnetic stick and let it move freely, the pole that points to the north is called the north (N) pole and the pole that points to the south is called the south (S) pole.
- The north and south poles are always attracted to magnetic substances or the substance that is not magnetic, but has the qualification to attract or repel with a magnet such as iron, nickel, cobalt, antimony, and bismuth.
- When we put 2 magnets close to each other. The same poles will push each other apart. As for the different poles, they will attract each other.
- Magnetic field refers to the area where the magnet reaches.
- The magnets which have strong magnetic force are Neodymium > Cobalt > Alnico > Ferrite respectively.
- The highlight is Neodymium Magnet which is the material with the highest magnetic attraction and the smallest size. It is classified as a rare magnet so it is quite expensive.
